As the premier provider of First Aid and Safety Training, the American Red Cross provides a variety of safety

and how to provide the proper care while waiting for more advanced professional care to arrive.
We offer classes in:
- Standard First Aid
- Adult CPR
- AED
- Injury Prevention
- Preventing Disease Transmission
- and much more...
Our Training Programs:
- Meet OSHA Identified Standard First Aid Guidelines.
- Offer more training in less time.
- Affordable, flexible delivery.
Build a safety program suited to your needs. First aid and CPR instruction takes approximately 5 1/2 hours, and can be scheduled in a single day, or 2 half-day sessions. Participants have plenty of time for hands-on practice, and will receive easy to use skills cards and interactive books. Our full service fees include the participant book, skills card, and a Laerdal pocket mask. For a small additional fee, we can include Bloodborne Pathogens training, or an injury prevention module such as Ergonomics, Back Injury Prevention, or Managing Stress.
AEDs in Workplaces
In 2001, the Office of Management and Budget took a new step by sending a letter to the Department of Health & Human Services and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) asking them to give greater priority to promoting the use of AEDs in the workplace. Go to the AED page to learn more about AED's and Red Cross AED training.
Purchase the HeartStart FR2 AED or OnSite AED by Philips Medical directly from the Red Cross and a portion of your investment will go back into our community. Call Janice at (440) 324-2929 or jdeangelisredcross@alltel.net for details.
We offer a variety of ways your employees can receive training:
- Full Service: Training provided at your work place using our corporate instructors. Certified Red Cross corporate instructors are available to teach at your office or work site at a time that is convenient for you.
- Web-Based Blended Learning: The first portion of of the training is completed online, so each participant can take the training from any PC-OS computer with Internet access. For the second part of the training, a Red Cross instructor will conduct a skills check with the participants at your facility and at your convenience. Adult CPR, AED and first Aid training are available at this time. For more information, call 440-324-2929.
- Authorized Provider: By having just one or several of your employees trained as Red Cross instructors, you have the flexibility to conduct classes when and wherever necessary. This is a popular and economical option for companies that have a number of employees to train on an on-going basis.
- Community Classes: Community Classes are regularly scheduled at the Red Cross Chapter in Elyria. We offer evening and weekend classes to fit your employees' busy work schedules. Please read How to Prepare for Class before attending your class.
